BioSonic Repatterning

by John Beaulieu, N.D., Ph.D

BioSonic means LifeSound, and BioSonic Repatterning is the process of turning into and aligning our natural rhythms with our LifeSound. LifeSound has been called our Soul, or Fundamental Tone, our Key Note, and our UltraSonic Core. Life rhythm imbalances, rhythms which are disonate with our LifeSound, create vibrational disturbances within ourselves which manifest as a general loss of well being with signs of mental confusion / depression, emotional disorder, and physical symptoms / health problems.

BioSonic Repatterning (tm) was discovered and developed by John Beaulieu, N.D., Ph.D., Naturopath, Registered Polarity Practitioner, and Creative Arts Therapist. Beginning in the early 1970's, John sat in an aneachoic chamber, which is a completely silent room, at New York University. He listened for over five hundred hours to the sounds of his body. Being a music therapist, he began to notice different sound, rhythmic, and intervallic phenomena within his body which led him to healings in his own life. These experiences became guides in developing new music and sound therapy processes and technologies to help his patients, which he called BioSonic Repatterning.

BioSonic Repatterning theory is based on an understanding of life as vibrational in nature. The fundamental organizing and sustaining factor of our being is Sound, with a capital "S." Our fundamental Sound, like a vibrating string, divides again and again to create harmonics. The natural rhythms of our body are harmonics of our fundamental Sound. Through tuning into and listening to our body rhythms i.e: respiratory rhythms, craniosacral rhythms, cardiac rhythms, and organ rhythms, we can access their source in a similar way a dancer moves through different musical rhythms to their underlying beat. The result is a repatterning or tuning the rhythm with our fundamental Sound.

The journey from the harmonic rhythm to the fundamental Sound is a process of unwinding through different vibrational states. These states manifest to the practitioner as a series of images, thoughts, emotions, and tissue response changes/ physical sensations. The guiding principle is a felt body sense of resonance, stillness, and dissonance. As long as the practitioner stays centered and open to the fundamental Sound, the result will be a resonant connection between the harmonic and fundamental. Resonance means to return to sound again and again.

An important area of BioSonic Repatterning is understanding our physical structure via our skeletal system, as a harmonic extension of our fundamental Sound. A bodywork practitioner can use this knowledge as a map to align body areas to visual harmonic patterns. The process of physical harmonic alignment often creates a resonance throughout the self which leads to deeper levels of sonic unwinding and greater rhythmic alignment. This can be facilitated by BioSonic tuning forks, which are tuned to Pathogen intervals, which are specifically aligned with skeletal harmonics.

Practitioners can incorporate the techniques of BioSonic Repatterning in a variety of different ways. For example, a massage practitioner may create different rhythmic strokes based on BioSonic evaluation combined with muscle-skeletal evaluation. A cranial practitioner may gently follow the cranial rhythm into different harmonic levels, and a Polarity practitioner may use spinal stretch releases and connective tissue strokes to align a body to natural harmonic patterns. In addition, practitioners trained in BioSonic Repatterning may use specific modalities which include special tuning forks, music, color & light, precious stones, toning, mantras, chanting, voice, music improvisation and rhythmic movement.

BioSonic Repatterning works to heighten our verbal communication skills through developing a new awareness of voice rhythms, speed, pitch and volume; emotional rhythms, and general movement patterns between people related to five element theory. The bodywork practitioner may use these skills to gain rapport with a client, evaluate a client, or intervene to match rhythms between different areas of a client's verbal expression.

BioSonic Repatterning adds a new depth to bodywork and communication and it's effects can be felt immediately. Practitioners integrating BioSonic Repatterning report a new dimension to their work which enhances their touch sensitivity and is perceived by their clients as an increased sense of well-being, and longer lasting effects.

To train practitioners as well as assist the general public, BioSonic Repatterning utilizes tuning forks tuned to special intervals/harmonics, rhythmic exercises, voice exercises, rhythmic exercises, voice exercises, and music listening/movement exercises. The practice of these exercises is healing in itself and brings a new sonic awareness of life. One begins to listen and observes life as musical. The old saying "As in music, so in life," takes on an everyday practical meaning.
