Do you use the power of sound to enhance your speaking voice?

You can use it to manage nerves, release challenging thoughts and bring yourself into the full power of your presence.

The first time I experienced Sound Healing I was in a voice class at drama school, repeating sounds, feeling the vibration through our bodies. I wanted to stop. I was feeling all sorts of things I didn’t want to feel.  Our teacher said it meant my voice was opening areas it hadn’t accessed for a long time; and I burst into a flood of tears.

Eight years later, I discovered sound-healer Stewart Pearce (who taught my drama-school voice teacher!).  After taking Stewart’s course I began incorporating sound in my massage work. I went to Egypt on a spiritual holiday and was invited to lead my first group sound circles.

Then one day, a massage client asked if I knew anyone who could help her husband gain confidence in public speaking.  I did. Me!

This started what I do today, sound healer and vocal confidence and communication specialist.  I reconnect people to who they really are, and release the restrictions they hold around speaking and self-expression to find their confident voice.

Why? When I was about 9 years old, a music teacher said to open our mouths when we sing.  I did, and three girls started making fun of me.  Suddenly the thing I loved was ‘dangerous’ and might ostracise me.  This stuck with me.  It got so bad when auditioning for musicals huge nerves would kick in, my body shake, and my voice would go.

These are the same kinds of challenges people face when they don’t like speaking in front of others or are afraid to have a challenging conversation.  You shut down, or shut off the parts of your voice that connect with the experiences your brain remembers as vulnerable - and your body responds.

Your voice affects every part of your life.  Whether you are expressing yourself personally or professionally you need to let go of the barriers and blocks a younger you created mentally, physically and emotionally around self-expression.

Next time you are nervous about speaking, I invite you to hum and ‘Haw’.  Let your voice vibration ground you, bring you back into your body and release those emotional charges too. It is the simplest way to change your state because it works in a moment. It is physical, emotional and spiritual.  It is accessible immediately and you need no special tools to create it.

This is how I connect my clients to their deepest truth, to the passion behind their purpose to speak with clarity, confidence and conviction.  Every one of them a pebble into the ocean of creating global vocal-liberation and sending “Sound Around The World.”

I ask them … words make waves – so why not speak with the power of Your Whole Voice?!
