Description: I'm an historian (ancient & medieval / Renaissance periods) and also a musician (small wire-strung harp and silver flute(s) and have previously played improvised on-site music in many historical & heritage settings, and also for tour groups and at the Edinburgh Festival(s), etc. Orig. from the USA, I obtained my PhD at Univ of Edinburgh, and am an author of 8 books for both general and academic audiences. (Currently, due to difficulties fully and safely recovering from a v difficult accident involving the spine and orthopaedics, I've been advised that for the coming year or so I must continue to work from home on two books in progress, exploring various themes. This year so far, I've already learned much from US sound healing experts Jonathan Goldman (chanting) and Dr John Beaulieau (tuning forks), and also appreciate SHA, too, for all you have done over the years for this wonderful site! And, a quote by Peter Gabriel: 'Music is a spiritual doorway...its power comes from the fact that it plugs directly into the soul.' And, as we know, so can Sound, too, to help create a better world. All blessings on your journey, too! Karen
